RCDatabase: RC Database News & Updates

Small but useful update, improvement input filter and data column hide on every database table.

Operand usage on column input filter (>, <, <=, >=, &&, <> ) to filter the database, the input is located on top column field.

Example on motor database, to find shaft diameter bigger than 3mm

input: >3

will return for motors that have shaft diameter bigger than 3 mm.

To get range result set,

example: to help find in range 2000Kv to 5000Kv motor.

input: >2000 && <5000

Several updates on rc motor database are poles count, continuous watts, surge watt, Io@10volts, and motor resistance(Rm) in Ohm. These input fields use number only.

The servo database is updated, with additional bearing field.

So here the input fields we have in this database:

1. Product      : Servo name (text field)
2. Part Number      : text field
3. Digital/Analog    : Drop down
4. Manufacturer: Auto complete text field
5. Torque @4.8v      : Number only text field (kg/cm)
6. Torque @6v      : Number only text field (kg/cm)
7. Speed@4.8v/60deg      : Number only text field (at 60 degree, I will try to put linear speed calculator to convert from 30 or 45 degree to 60 degree, so we can have uniform value in database)
8. Speed@6v/60deg      : Number only text field
9. Gears Material      :Drop down.
10. Motor Type      :Drop down (3 poles core, 5 poles core, coreless, brushless)
11. Bearing      : Drop down number of bearing, if it bushing please use 0 value. (0,1,2)
12. Spline      : Number only text field (vary across several manufacturer, 23-25 splines)
13. Weight (gr)      : Number only text field
14. Length (mm)     : Number only text field
15. Width (mm)      : Number only text field
16. Height (mm)    : Number only text field

Another update for today is add new picture page, so we don't have to see empty warning message anymore, also manual page already have description field, thanks dclxvi (666) for this update.

I need to change servo database input fields, so we can have more complete coverage about a servo.

There will be aditional speed@4v, torque@4v, speed@6v, torque@6v, motor core type, digital/analog, spline count.

Spline count is we need the most, why?

Did you ever finding servo saver that fit your servo? If so, you tell me why :)

Finally its done, the RC Rims / Wheels database is up and running.

Scale is text field, not using drop down.

Rim style ( will change to rim type) is text field, it for beadlock, dish wheel , spoke or anything.

Also we have additional field, the detail for rim.

After several test, I just found it can't have both way connection with the compatible parts, for now we can only one way connection rims with compatible tires or vice versa.

I will work on this, since wasting time and database resource on these twice input for the same records.

Often we use rims that known used on our vehicle, but there is many other maybe thousand option that might usable for our chosen tires.

We just need to buy and try if it fit, WAIT!! what a waste if it didn't.

Therefore this database can help you and save our money, ONLY if it have data, right?

In perfect condition, the data must be collected from user by measure the part, so we can have real tested subject. Otherwise it will have incomplete data or slightly inaccurate.

But in real world, like what going on now, I use GOOGLE to find data, a time consuming process and incomplete data gathered, well at least I don't make a big hole in my pocket to purchase all parts.

Also updates on manufacturer input field, every submit page with this input will using auto complete, which means you need to type the company name until it show up a little pop up box, and we need to click on the company name to select it.

Development start again, I begin to setup new database for rims, to continue the R/C tires database.

Which I was left it in half way.

I was adding parts when I realize we still have missing section, the rims.

The plan for rims is to get list of compatible rims in tires section.

I don't know if I can reserve it, like to pull out compatible tires from selected rim.

I still questioning my self, why this so hard to gather new contributors.

I just seen several thread on forums, there is  new guy asking for recommended hop up parts for his mini-t.

There is countless threads like one above.

Made me think that I should bring down my self to serve good contents.

What I have in my hand right now is mini-t, I will start to tear down the parts, list all parts here and get pictures of it.

The problem is I don't have all upgrade parts on my mini-t, but anyway I should gather old information from forums and asking them for taking picture and hopefully they willing to help.

As the title said, site development will on hold for now, rather wasting time to put extra feature that never filled up with data.

This will replace older part list on vehicle page, the previous one was assigned one part for one vehicle exclusively, since we have a lot of parts that share across multiple model, finally we can have this working.

Before we can add new compatible part for a vehicle, we have to submit this part on part type page, for example: car parts.

Confused? Hold on, here the explanations.

Part type is: motor, servo, tires, engine, car parts, heli parts, plane parts, etc.

When we need to add new compatible part for example tires for HPI Baja 5B, before we do that, we have to submit the tires on Tires page. After the tires data goes in tires database, go to HPI Baja 5B page and add new compatible part for it.

In the add new compatible parts page, fill the data by typing, it have pop up box as you type, select the desired value by clicking on it, and continue to fill next field.

This will help us to pick vehicle or part name, as time goes, we can have a lot of data, which is tedious to scroll the drop down box when it have thousands data.

Note: you should not change the value that we retrieve from the pop up box, it will show us a red border if we have wrong input, also input the data from top to bottom, since we have some filter on it like part category.

This database consist of 3 section,

The "Location" which is the hobby place. It have following fields:

• Name
• Country
• State
• Address
• Phone number
• Logo

The "Tracks" in that location, somehow one location have several track and different category.

• Track location: this should automatic filled if we submit directly from location page
• Track name:
• Type of vehicle
• Track category: (crawler, onroad, offroad, drifting, drag if vehicle type is car)
• Track surface
• Length, if type is car, so this field is distance for one lap. If Airplane, this should the length of runway strip.
• Description, tell us about the place, facility, etc.
• Profile, this is the graphical image of the track layout, like the one one real racing circuit

and "Events", which recording any incoming and past events held in the location.

• Event title
• Start date
• End date
• Detail

In the tracks database, we should have a name of the tracks, not the location name, it might be mixed of it, also we can submit picture for the track.

Track example below,

Location: SoCal RC Sport

Tracks:  if it have several tracks, we should have different name for those tracks

1. SoCal Raceway
2. SoCal Offroad Dunes
3. SoCal Drag Strip

Additional fields in radio control manufacturer, these new fields were Profile, Country, Phone and Address.

I will try to get company profile directly from manufacturer, which needs to get in touch with every manufacturer.

Also there is a new field in rc cars too, the Gearbox ratio.

This problems already fixed and leave a lot 1969 update time, which need to edit it one by one.

Layout update by adding couple semantic tags to help page accessibility.

To do list:

1. RC tracks location.
2. Airfields.
3. Boat tracks, I don't know the exact name. Really need boaters on board.
4. Online and local hobby shop listing.
5. RC Magazine.
6. Engines will have own database for each vehicle type.

Website database already running, maybe I will add tracks, air fields, clubs and local hobby shop.

Still hasn't decided, this all put in one place or dedicated page.

Unit converter added, this tool is provided by unitconvertion.org, very easy to manage and add new unit conversion category if needed. It have thousands unit conversion, currently only 4 category conversion here, Length, Weight, Power, and Torque.

Upload problem already fixed,  if you still encounter problem in uploading big file please report it.

Seems adding  "myvehicle" still have 1969 lastpost time, back on to do list.

Rc tires already online, I try to make rims section also, which can pull compatible part list in both tires or rims. Wish me luck on this.

Tires is running on test server, planned to upload it today, maybe I took a rest before upload it.

Beside that, I have fixed several bugs with submit time, as you can see every new submit time was on 1969.

Unfortunately, I still encounter problem with uploads.

I had a time when I post this site on rctech and got responses from friend over there, there is one about peoples tend to get information than to give, which can lead this site become useless.

So, how can we make this database to be usefull for you and everybody?

As the main concept, we can start to record with what you have right now.

I think nobody can afford all range for example Neu motors just to find out the difference between them, am I right?

As the time goes, maybe someday we can have full range Neu motors here, complete with details, pictures, and user experiences with related product.

Imagine that we can have complete part list for each vehicle, don't you think to find compatible parts become so ease? or need to find compatible motor for your model?

There is a lot needs to be added, like batteries, tires, props, etc.

Don't you think you can help someone out there? Or maybe being helped.

The ESC database already added, anybody have additional ESC data field suggestion? I will glady to receive...

     Editor ranks now added, for each hobby field of course, there is Car editor, Heli editor, Plane editor, Boat editor, Motor editor, Servo editor and ESC editor.  I still working on the ESC database. The editor ranks must wisely used, don't change a data if you not sure enough with it.

     To become an editor you must submits at least 100 vehicle or parts in related category. This submit count can be change to higher or lower without any announcement before.

     Welcome to rcdatabase.org, this site is supposed to be a collaborative database for radio control hobbies. We already have a lot of forums on the net, but  common forum's thread style buried a lot precious information that we need, therefore we need  this kind of database, that stores every related information like upgrade parts, pictures and message in one place.

      Enough with that, let's get to the point. The main idea is collecting data by rc model (user submitted),  this is the thread, in this model there is model parts and model picture, users can submit pictures or parts for that compatible with corresponding vehicle, in model parts, user can ask someone about that part, or submit picture in the parts picture, confused...:) take a look for your self :)

     Currently there is 4 type vehicle: rc boat, rc car, rc heli and rc airplane with their own classes. Additional vehicle type and classes is closed for user access, only admin can add a new type or classes, you can ask admin which is me for that :)

     Gallery, in gallery you can add your vehicle and upgraded parts also uploading pictures for it. "from where? I don't see a link for that..." you can access that in my vehicle tab. Don't forget your maximum picture resolution is 1600 pixel wide or height.

     My profile, for updating your profile, maximum avatar resolution is 150 pixel wide or height, if bigger than that server will automatically rescale it to acceptable resolution. Note: you have to have minimum 10 posts to edit your forum profile. Any suggestions in your mind? Please let me know and I will try to make it out. Please don't forget to read the rules , a last but not least important, let keeps this site clean
